The area of conflict between India and the USA are:
(i) India has refused to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation treaty because it is biassed in favour of nuclear power and is discriminatory. According to the treaty the existing nuclear powers have the right to possess nuclear weapons whereas the others are not free even to conduct nuclear tests.
(ii) The supply of the third generation and most sophisticated weapons to Pakistan by the USA which the former is using against India.
(iii) America has not declared Pakistan a rogue state which is sponsoring terrorism in spite of clear proof.
(iv) Whenever the Kashmir question comes up in the UN Security Council, America always takes the side of Pakistan.
(v) The perceptions of India and the USA regarding China's admission to the UN differed. India was in favour of China to be admitted as a member of the UN while America opposed it.
(vi) During the Bangladesh War in 1971, the USA threatened to intervene on the side of Pakistan.
(vii) The USA stopped the supply of fuel for the nuclear plant India has at Tarapur (Maharashtra).
(viii) The USA has a military basis in Pakistan.
(ix) India is against the USA military base in the Indian Ocean in the island of Diego Garcia which poses a threat to any state of India on the banks of the Indian Ocean.
(x) The USA imposed sanctions against India when India conducted nuclear tests in May 1998.
(xi) The relations between the two countries are tense over the issue of alleged human rights violation by Indian security forces in J&K.
