Karl Marx was a German thinker and scholar who is called the 'Father of Modern Communism'. It was he who developed the concept of socialism on scientific lines. He drew the first blue print of his communist philosophy in his famous pamphlet, "The Communist Manifesto". His ideas on Socialism or Communism were fully developed in his later writings especially in 'Das Kapital'.
(1) According to Karl Marx capitalism is the root cause of all social evils and hence it should be done away with.
(2) In his concept of socialism there is no place for private property. According to him a socialist society does not allow the acquisition of private property.
(3) According to him the whole society should have a common control over the means of production. In other words all the units of production should be nationalized.
(4) He maintained that like any other social system in history, like feudalism and slavery, capitalism is also bound to pass.
(5) According to him capitalism in itself has the seed of its own destruction. They are present in its very nature. A bigger capitalist will eliminate smaller capitalists because of better means of competition but one day on the same principles he himself will be devoured by the biggest capitalists.
(6) According to Karl Marx industrial workers are a force which would destroy capitalism and establish socialism.
(7) Capitalism can be rooted out through revolution and by establishing dictatorship of the proletariat or the workers.
