Four characteristics of learning are:
(i) Learning is a Continuous Process: Continuous learning is the process of learning new skills and knowledge on an on-going basis. This can come in many forms, from formal course taking to casual social learning. It involves self-initiative and taking on challenges
(ii) Learning Involves Change in Behavior: Learning leads to a modification in thoughts, actions, or habits. This change can be positive or negative, intentional or unintentional, and it may be temporary or permanent based on reinforcement and practice.
(iii) Learning is Based on Experience and Practice: Most educators understand the important role experience plays in the learning process. The role of emotion and feelings in learning from experience has been recognised as an important part of experiential learning. Repeated exposure to a concept or skill strengthens understanding and retention, making learning more effective.
(iv) Learning is Goal-Oriented and Adaptive: People learn with a purpose, whether to solve a problem, improve performance, or adapt to new situations. Learning helps individuals adjust to their environment and enhances personal and professional development. It potentially improves student engagement by providing lessons and activities that are tailored to their needs.
