Federal system and Administrative division in India:
1. India is the largest democracy of the world. It has adopted a federal form of the government.I agree with the given statement.
2. In India, there is a clear demarcation of subjects (three lists-Union, state and Concurrent lists) and powers (to rule or govern the country) between the central government and the state government are divided.
3. At central level the government of the Union rules. (The President, The Vice-President, The Prime Minister, The Cabinet, The Ministers, The Parliament, The Supreme Courts etc.) The Central Government runs the administration of the whole country and UTs with the help of a very large administrative machinery.
4. The Indian federation is a distinction from other federal structures of the other democratic nations. Though, federations have two-tier governing arrangements but India has created a third structure of governance.
5. Since 1992 when the country enacted the 73rd and 74th amendments of the constitution.
Since then the local government in India both rural and urban has been included in the constitution. It is a bold measure of empowerment of local government.
6. Today, there are twenty eight states and seven centrally administered territories in India.
7. Study of Indian administration is a study among other things of the structure at the district, local and central (or Block) levels.
8. The most influential level among (all these three levels) these, continues to be of the central government which determines to a great extent, the role and responsibilities of other organs.
