Food chain	Food web
1. The transfer of energy from one organism to another in the ecological system is called the food chain.	1. Many simple food chains intermingle with one another depicting complex inter relationships of organisms at each level from the food web.
2. The food chain involves the flow of energy in the form of food from lower to higher levels. There is a unidirectional link among the organisms.	2. In the food web instead of unidirectional links one could observe several interactions because each organism mainly feeds on a variety of food observed from different levels.
